Music Technology Week
August 8th - August 13th, 2010
Tutors: John Weatherby and Kris Koren
The programme of Music Technology & Performance Week is the least defined of our summer school weeks. The reason for this is a positive one, the week will be structured to best meet the needs of the people who sign up for the course.
What is on offer is essentially privileged access to a group of tutors who between them have years of practical experience of all aspects of the music business. We have performers who have been working professionally as musicians for over thirty years, ran independent record labels, recorded their own albums, been in the producers seat for countless recordings, been musical directors, sound engineers, tour managers – and more.
During the course of the week we expect to make some recordings, to be able to provide experience in live performance and studio settings, advise you on stage performance issues, offer advice on management, promotion and other aspects of the music business.

The first stage in signing up for this week is to contact us and tell us a little about yourself and what areas of Music Technology and Performance particularly interest you. If you are not sure where your career path may lie, this week could still be for you – come and see what is involved on and off-stage.
Throughout the weeks of Living Tradition Summer Schools, we will be dealing with various aspects of Music Technology and Performance and will be able to offer opportunities for a limited number of people to work alongside some of our technical team at various times over the six weeks. If this ‘summer apprenticeship’ opportunity appeals to you, please contact us for further details.
In 2008 this course was delivered in a recording studio environment in Moffat - concentrating on sound recording, editing and live music video filming, editing and production techniques. Our principal tutors for this week in 2008 were John Weatherby, Kris Koren and Brian Hazeleden.
For 2010 we are planning further in depth tuition to be delivered in a studio and live performance setting. This is an incredible opportunity for people to get hands on experience in technical subjects, often on a one to one basis. Numbers will be limited to give us the ability to respond to individual needs. Early booking is essential.
