It is with some considerable sadness that I have to announce the cancellation of the Living Tradition Summer Schools this year. This will also apply to Common Ground Scotland.

The background is fairly complex but the main reason is that we have been unable to secure an agreement with our venue. We have looked at alternative venues and were optimistic that we would be able to find something suitable, but we have not been able to find anything that would allow us to go ahead. We investigated other options but for a variety of reasons they did not work out.

We realise that many people will be disappointed with this announcement. There may yet be options that we can point people to, e.g. other events, but at the moment our focus is on letting people know the current position.

I hope that this is not the end of the Summer Schools, and despite the gloom there are options on the horizon. The plan at the moment is to continue to research venue options and to apply for funding support which may mean that the summer schools would return in 2012 in a similar or different form.

We are making arrangements to refund any deposits paid.
