Fundraising Needs - Tutor issues
Although our move to West Park, Dundee, has been artistically and socially very successful, it came after a period of difficulty with venues. We have had problems with funding which failed to materialise which has had a knock on effect on the financial viability of the events in relation to having fully professional tutors and artists.
West Park has proven very successful as a venue, after the past couple of years of venue uncertainty following the problems we experienced when Glaisnock House was declared a 'dangerous building' subsequent to us discovering serious safety issues during our occupancy.
These issues have put a severe financial and logistical strain on the organisation and we still have some outstanding financial obligations to tutors which we will address.
There is a huge amount of determination to continue to develop the Summer Schools, but we will require some significant fundraising activities so that we can honour obligations to our tutors and to put the Summer Schools onto a firm footing.
Whilst we do not want to air our difficuties too publicly, people who may want to help need to know what the issues are.
