Jon Bennett

Jon has been a professional performer of contemporary and traditional folk music since the early 1980s. He has performed at festivals, arts centres and clubs in Lincolnshire, Shropshire, Oxfordshire and Durham, as well as being involved in theatre work: in 1985 he toured the show `A Better Thing`, with the words of the poet Adrian Mitchell set to music. He has published songs commissioned by the National Cooperative Movement and childrens songs used in BBC schools publications. In 1995 he won first prize in a songwriting competition organised by BBC-radio and Folkwrite Magazine and was a finalist of the international Songsearch competition in 2000. He has also toured with professional storytellers and was for three years the director of the Oxford Storytelling Festival.
