Summer School Bursary in Memory of Moira Jones

A bursary has been set up in memory of Moira Jones. Details of the Moira Fund can be found at www.themoirafund.org.uk

Moira was a warm, creative and fun-loving person who was much loved. The bursary will be awarded to a young person attending the Summer School, which takes place from 18 July to 13 August 2010

Goldrush gets new Bass player

Alan Jones the talented multi instrumentalist has cemented the relationship of "new to the summer schools" bluegrass band Goldrush by becoming their latest member playing amoungst other instruments acoustic double bass.

Goldrush was formed by John Sheldon in 1989. They made their debut at the Guildtown Bluegrass Festival which John originated.

Bogle, Bailey and Sands become Patrons of Common Ground

Clare Lappin has been working away quietly to confirm Patrons for Common Ground Scotland. “I am delighted to be able to report that we have secured the support of three high profile performers, Eric Bogle, Colum Sands and Roy Bailey, who have agreed to become patrons of Common Ground Scotland. The patronage of such big names will undoubtedly raise the profile of Common Ground and so enable us to share our experience with a greater number of people.”
