Chris Gibb

Chris Gibb is a popular piper well-known on the competition scene. He was a member of the cast of Brian McNeill's "Scottish Crossings" performed in the USA one of a series of artistic exchanges between CalArts and the RSAMD.
Chris is from Edinburgh and has been playing Highland bagpipes since the age of 8.His early piping was concentrated on the competition scene until when aged 19 he moved to Canada. There he was exposed to some fabulous musicians from both Prince Edward Island and Cape Breton. Chris developed a passion for Cape Breton music and the traditional mu-sic scene in general. Upon returning home to begin his studies at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (RSAMD), on the Scottish Music (Piping) course. At the RSAMD Chris was able to continue his study of both competition piping and creative traditional music.
Chris is heavily involved with the National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland as a teacher, consultant and Pipe Major.He also teaches regular classes at the National Piping Centre in Glasgow. While in Canada, Chris conducted ongoing instruction for nearly 40 students of all ages.
